When was the last time you really took a look out of a window? What did you see? Did you see that God is amazing? Did you see that nothing, absolutely nothing, is under your control? Or did you see that the life you live isn’t the life you thought it would be?
Of late, I’ve been taking a really good look out of the window of life. What I’ve seen has been revealing and somewhat a surprise. Over the last year or so, I’ve been so busy working and trying to exceed expectations (mine and those of others), that I have missed some great views. What a waste! Shoulda, woulda, coulda…..not the story of life I want to live.
A beloved friend wrote on Facebook, “Life is not about how long we live, but about how we live. Life is how we stand in relationship to both ourselves and to others.” You see, this friend is blessed to have seen 2015 and views life as a privilege every day that God allows her to be on earth. I think I missed that along the way somewhere. I’ve stressed over silly things like the opinion others have of me, or the hurtful words some have said to me. Instead, I should be focused on the hugs and love that I receive every day from my family.
So as I shift the view from my window, I invite you to do the same. It’s all about perspective. Looking out the window, you can choose to see all the good and let that be your joy, or allow the clouds that come sometimes cause you to miss the best of any view from any window. What is that you ask? It’s that you are here to see at all!
Be blessed and enjoy the view…
