I am straight forward uncomplicated and unapologetic when it comes to health. Taking care of your health should be paramount and your continued wellbeing herald daily. Looking and feeling your best can sometime be challenging. Some of us work hard at work; others work hard on their appearance and still some work hard at trying to maintain the status quo. Summer is upon us and the little voice in your head is saying “can you fit that dress you bought last summer, those shorts”? You walk to your closet and pull out the dress, try it on, look into the mirror and the little voice says” that looks like 10 lbs. to me”. You shudder and start thinking about all the diets you’ve tried and wonder how the weight just creeps back onto your body. Well I’ll tell you, winter arrives and you lose focus and your eating habits start to change. You add layers of clothing and before you know, you’re hiding under those layers. The weather begins to change, the sun is shining and you start to remove the layers. You look in the mirror and you shudder and the little voice in your head says “that looks like 10 lbs. to me”.
Now we all know this is just noise and many of you are not going to take the next step to ensure you are not only ready for the summer but that you continue to be ready throughout the year. What do I mean by that, it takes very little effort to make it to the nearest golden arches, but it does take a little more effort to ensure you are eating well-balanced meals. Eating well-balanced meals means spending a little extra time creating a meal plan. Carve a few extra minutes out of your busy schedule, prepare a grocery list of your favorite foods, and stop by the supermarket on your way home from work. When you get home prepare enough meals for at least three days. This effort will alleviate the feeling of being overwhelmed all the time. I am sorry if you have a mate or husband that prefers his meals prepared fresh every day, you’ll have to figure that one out, what did you sign on for?
I have said this many times before, I am a fairly healthy eater but I can stand to lose 10 or 15 lbs. and believe me the best way to reduce your weight is to change your lifestyle and incorporate a timely workout regiment into your daily routine. Consistency is the key to success and focus is paramount to sustainability. When you are overwhelmed you tend to munch on whatever is readily available. I am telling you all of this with the hope that it will assist you in preparing for the summer now that all the extra layers have been peeled away.
